I am a cat a poem by a monkey
I am a cat a poem by a monkey
I am a cat with a dead thing I have wondered I have been wounded But to you I came Willing to risk another round of pain Disappointment Abandonment, among other things I am a cat with a strong disposition I hiss and I claw I’m loud and free But the scars of my past Both anchor me And free me to fly I’m find on my own But I want a home I want my home to be in you I am a cat with a dead thing A gift of a heart Cold and raw Exposed at your feet Left at your door To leave me or keep me Your actions will tell me all What you whisper to my heart If you leave me in the cold I am a cat who is scared I am giving you my all So please let me in Or free me from my desire for your love In your hands you hold it all I am a cat I am a cat I am a broken cat who wants a home.
